Grow Your Own Leaders
In 2009, the Board of Directors of the Olde English Consortium established a Grow Your Own Leaders Ph.D. cohort in Educational Administration, in collaboration with The University of South Carolina. In an attempt to be responsive to the needs of school personnel and the future needs of education throughout our consortium region, the OEC and USC are offering an entire program of Ed Leadership coursework to the school districts in the OEC. These courses lead to the Ed.S. and Ph.D. in Educational Administration. This collaborative project brings USC classes to the OEC school districts – all classes on-site in the OEC. Each of the classes is held on Tuesday’s at 4:30pm at Chester High School for the next 3 & ½ to 4 years.
OEC:GYOL cohort students will complete 33 hours that lead to Superintendency Certification (i.e., Ed.S.) and then follow those courses with 36 hours that will lead to a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. USC has outstanding Educational Leadership faculty members who will drive to the OEC each Tuesday to deliver the coursework to our OEC:GYOL Ph.D. cohort class.
