Capturing America’s Past: Students Unearth Local Events


Nine local historic sites agreed to allow teachers and their students to visit during 2008. Participating teachers first visited the site to understand its historical significance, and then returned in the fall with their students. Armed with digital and video cameras, students were encouraged to explore aspects of the site that most interested them as learners. Both teachers and site staff served as guides to aid students in finding the answers to their questions.

Afterwards, a technology expert used the student-created text, raw footage and pictures to create this multi-media project.
