Academic Challenge

For the past 40 years, the Olde English Consortium (OEC) has been proud to facilitate Academic Competition throughout the north central region of South Carolina - promoting academic competition the same way we celebrate athletic competition. The OEC just completed its 2015 competition season. 7th, 8th, & High School teamscompeted each Wednesday (from January 7 thru March 4, 2015) in Academic "Quiz-Bowl-style" Competition with 44 teams from throughout this north central region of South Carolina. Records from the regular season determined the seeding in Monday's March 9th Regional OEC Tournament (held this year at USC Lancaster). Over 400 of our region's brightest students... 28 schools... 44 teams... came together to comete in a grueling 3-month regular seaon "Quiz Bowl" weekly competition... culminating on March 9, 2015 in the OEC "Regionals" Tournament.

Winners: Fort Mill HS (Division I) and Indian Land HS (Division II); Indian Land Middle (Division I) and Fort Mill Middle (Division II)

And... This year... for only the second time in the history of South Carolina... the OEC co-hosted th "State Championship of Academics." The Olde English Consortium, along with the Pee Dee Education Center and the Western Piedmont Education Consortium, hosted the second Annual State Championship of Academics: a fully sanctioned regular season - culminating in regional championships - leading to the March 19, 2015 State Championship (held this past year at Winthrop University). This past year, South Carolina had four regions competing - each region designating region champions - sending their region champs to the State Championship Tournament.
